Laboratory report, CYTTER.datalab

March 25, 2021
After our four-week translation practice, we will deactivate the CYTTER.datalab (kl-19) with the temporary outpost »Matjö – Raum für Kunst« until further notice. In the context of CYTTER.datalab (kl-19), for the first time physical objects could be sent by mail to our headquarters to exchange them for their digitally modified VERSIONs.
Through our website http://datalab.christiandoeller.de, 30 objects were registered, of which we have been able to feed 26 into the CYTTER system. With a total of 182 translation steps in 1,397,541.6 REV (129.4 hours), an average of 7 translation steps were performed per object in 53,751.6 REV (4.97 hours).
Our virtual OpenLab event (live) had 102 visitors, 11 participated in the Q&A format with an average of 1.18 questions. The "CYTTER in Concert" experiment, in which PHYSO_022 was to be translated into sound waves and ultimately reinterpreted digitally, could not be performed due to a global VIRUS.

All created CYTTERs will be sent by mail to the respective participants in the next days. The corresponding PHYSO will become GRANULAT in the foreseeable future. This website will remain and serve as an archive.
Through CYTTER.datalab (kl-19) we could not only gain further translation experience, but also many valuable insights for CYTTER.log (publication, April/May 2021) and CYTTER.web (web presence, September 2021). News on the development of both formats will be posted on the website linked above.
We would like to thank all 30 participants*, the support staff at CYTTER Headquarters, all visitors* and especially the team and supporters of our temporary outpost »MATJÖ - Raum für Kunst«.
